Who would see them thought? It's so filthy and most of the times the cover is looking down. This clower is probably not even visible from a hand range and only can be observed by intentionally looking at the cover. And who in the world would do it? Everyone knows he doesn't have any magic and can only create some anti-magic swords. Cool, but he's probably a three-leaf anyway, so why bother looking into that dirty old covering?
There were very few rare moments when someone could've seen it if they had any interest. But why would they care, even when Wizard King was trying to read his spells? He wanted to see the inside after all, not the outside (and he didn't even want it, Asta pushed the grimoire in his face)).
The only ones who cared were the wizard from Hage and his family. Nor Yuno, nor Sister Lily, old man or especially kids could've known what it means, while that wizard apparently understood its probably demon-related meaning but kept it to himself.
